The City of Titans team has previously talked about development and their work towards an engine upgrade, going from Unreal 5.3 to 5.6 eventually, with many features planned to release alongside that upgrade. Well, in the latest development update, they’ve announced that some of their planned features will arrive earlier than previously expected.
In a new year’s blog, they discuss how the game has been coming along, and Q4 was “steady work”, with some upgrades and more building, including stuff planned for the 5.6 update. However, instead of leaving all of the things they originally planned for the upgrade release, they’re going to work with Unreal Engine 5.3 and backport some of the features so that they are available sooner.
“The goal here is to give you a chance to play with something new (such as the quest and inventory systems) ASAP.”
The online features are still planned for the 5.6 update but in Unreal Engine 5.3 they will add the inventory system, some sample missions, and more to be announced that will give everyone who has access a chance to try out some new stuff a lot faster instead of waiting for one huge content update.
This development update was a short and sweet one to kick off the year, but the decision to bring some more stuff in ASAP is a good one, instead of keeping lots of content on ice.
