The first issue of RuneScape’s upcoming comic mini-series, Untold Tales of the God Wars, will be out in just about a month, and Titan Comics is previewing what to expect from the lore-inspired tie-in.
The God Wars Dungeon questline is familiar, but there’s also lots of room to use it is inspiration, as the team behind the new series is doing. The official description teases some familiar locations and characters:“Delve in to the Temple of Lost Ancients during the catastrophic and iconic God Wars, as four warring armies fight for control of the Godsword: the only weapon capable of killing a deity. Trapped in the center of the conflict is Maro, who dreams of breaking free of his master’s clutches…”
Yes, we’re following Maro the skull who is on a personal quest amid the overarching story. Issue #1 will go on sale on November 6th, moved back just a little from the originally announced October launch. The first issue is 48 color pages and will be $4.99. Available in both digital and physical editions, if you go and find a physical copy, you’ll also get a code good for 200 Runecoins
Written by Ryan O’ Sullivan, with art from Sid Kotian and Daniel Bayliss, the issue will also have multiple variant covers from artists like Alan Quan, a solo variant from Sid Kotian, and one from RuneScape’s own lead concept artist, Dave Barker. More info on subsequent issues is yet to be revealed.
It’s another way that RuneScape has been expanding as a franchise over the past few years, including tabletop games and even a cookbook.
